Bais Shmuel’s New Building Takes A Step Forward, Promont Announced As Building Company Hired For Construction
by CrownHeights.info
The highly anticipated Bais Shmuel Shul planned from the empty lot on the corner of Union Street and Albany Ave has taken another step forward, with Promont Builders being announced as the construction company hired to do the building.
“PROMONT has been selected to deliver a new shul (synagogue) that will serve as a central place of gathering for the community,” Mendy Waisbrod wrote on LinkedIn. “Thoughtfully designed by S. Wieder Architect PC the project reflects a clear vision: timeless design, practical function, and a space built to bring people together.”
Promont is a new York City based development management and construction management firm founded in 2000, with 392 projects, including many large buildings under its belt.
The new shul is planned to include a community center, including a pool and other amenities, such as a Simcha Hall for the community.
The new Shul is long in coming, with news of the plans first becoming public in 2021.

Windows overlooking women’s mikvah?
Very exciting for crown heights! Just hoping design is sensitive to women’s mikvah
rt
How can it be sensitive? This is crazy…
Why is this news worthy?
First of all who cares?
Second of all they made a groundbreaking over 4 years ago without having a contractor????
None of this adds up.
It is/was a tactic
They waited four years, hoping it would settle in people’s mind and forget the major problems it presents in the place where it stands
But it hasn’t left anybody’s mind, that is anybody who is sane
BG
The notion that there can never be anything built on that corner because of the mikvah is what’s insane. There’s a mikvah on Troy and Lefferts, literally in the shadow of a condo building; is that a problem in your eyes? There’s a mikvah in the middle of a block on Carroll; should the houses near there be torn down?
My fellow commenters
To my fellow commenters: thank you so much for using your voice and speaking up. To Crown Heights that infocolon thank you for posting our comments in deep pain about this proposed project
