BDE: Harav Yosef Yitzchak Kalmanson, 70, OBM

With great sadness we report the sudden passing of Harav Yosef Yitzchak Kalmanson OBM, the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Beis David Shlomo in New Haven, CT and author of the Sefer “Kovetz Reshimas Shiurim”. He passed away suddenly on the first night of Rosh Hashana, 5786.

He was 70 years old.

In early summer of 1976, R’ Dovid Shlomo Deutsch established a branch of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in the city of New Haven, CT called ‘Yeshivas Beis Dovid Shlomo’ and in 1978, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Kalmanson was appointed to lead it.

He is survived by his wife Hindy, and children, Mrs. Chani Altein (Pittsburgh, PA), Mrs. Nechama Hendel (Yerushalayim, EY), Mrs. Menucha Shochat (Los Angeles, CA), Rabbi Mendel Kalmanson (London, UK), Rabbi Yekusiel Kalmanson (Hancock Park, CA), Rabbi Moishy Kalmenson (Rockwell, TX).

He is also survived by his siblings; Rabbi Yechiel Menachem Mendel Kalmanson (Brunoy, France), Rabbi Yisroel Shimon Kalmanson (Crown Heights), Mrs. Doba Raiza Vorst (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Mrs. Chaya Uminer (Crown Heights), Mrs. Baila Goldstein (Crown Heights), and Mrs. Shterna Shpritzer (Crown Heights).

The Levaya will take place today, Thursday, 3:00pm passing by 770 Eastern Parkway, with Kevurah at Montefiore Cemetery at 4:15pm.
