Birchas Mazal Tov, Going Back To Our Foundations

by Rabbi YY Hodakov

How often do we think about the Rebbe’s letter that was read under our Chupah?

In addition to being a Bracha, I think that the words are instructive and contain the key to a successful marriage, with Hashem’s help, as the Rebbe blesses us to build a Jewish home on the foundations of Torah and Mitzvos, as they are illuminated by the teachings of Chassidus.

Imagine if in every situation that life brings, we would go back to this foundation, and ask ourselves, what does Torah dictate in this instance, what is expected of a Chossid in this case, and act accordingly. (To be sure, there are times that one might need outside guidance to know what the Torah expects in this particular case).

I put the words to this tune as I was preparing for my daughter’s recent wedding, in the hope that she, and all of us, can keep these words in mind, and be successful, with joy and gladness of heart, for many happy days.
