From Silver Tray to Shlichus: A Fourth-Generation Mission Continues
On a sunny Friday afternoon in Monsey, NY, Yosef Yehudah Loschak was gently placed on a silver tray, surrounded by jewelry, sugar cubes, garlic—and generations of blessings.
The Pidyon HaBen was more than a milestone for his parents, Rabbi Levik and Libby Loschak. It was a symbol of continuity and commitment. Just days later, they are taking their newborn son across the country—not for a vacation, but to begin a life of Shlichus in S. Barbara, California.
The Loschak name is well known in S. Barbara. Over 40 years ago, Rabbi Yosef Yehudah Loschak a”h and his wife, Devorah Shetichyeh, established Chabad of S. Barbara, laying a foundation that their son, Rabbi Mendel Loschak, and his wife, Rochel, have continued to build for decades.
Now, the next generation—and the next after that—are joining their parents in this mission. Rabbi Levik and Libby, with their newborn Yosef Yehudah (the fourth consecutive Bechor in this family of Shluchim!), are setting out to expand programming for youth, families, and the growing Jewish community of the Central Coast.
They’ve launched a campaign to raise $100,000 to help kickstart this expansion. From running Camp Gan Israel this summer to developing year-round programming, they are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work—immediately.
