BDE: Mrs. Gittel Karp, 78, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Mrs. Gittel Karp OBM, a resident of Yerushalayim and sister of Crown Heights Sofer and activist Harav Moshe Klein.

she was 78 years old.

Her husband, Rabbi Pinchus Karp, is a world-renowned Sofer and known in Crown Heights as a former store owner on Kingston Ave together with Rabbi Shain. The Karps were long-time residents of Crown Heights.

Mrs. Karp is survived by her husband and daughter Rivky Esterson as well as grand children and great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings; Rabbi Menachem Klein (Frankfurt Germany), Rabbi Yankel Klein (Postville, IA), Harav Moshe Klein (Crown Heights), Rabbi Chaim Klein (Crown Heights), and Shaindy Schapiro (Eretz Yisroel).

The Levaya will take place in Eretz Yisroel.

Shiva will take place in Crown Heights at 1582 Carroll St from Tuesday noon through Friday.
