Lubavitcher, Waving an Australian Flag In Defiance of Palestinian Protesters, Detained By Police

In a rather bizarre story coming from Australia, a Lubavitcher is making waves after he was forcibly detained by police at a pro-Palestinian protest in Sydney. His offense is apparently flying an Australian flag.

“This is, unfortunately, me,” Osher Feldman rote on X. “My ‘crime’ was waving an Australian flag in Australia.”

According to reports, Feldman had entered a park area with a pro-Palestinian protest underway. With New South Wales police officers nearby, he unfurled an Australian flag, presumably as a way of protesting the pro-Palestinian protest. For some unknown reason, the police found issue with this action.

“The police ‘allowed’ me to enter but insisted on escorting me ‘for my safety,’” Feldman said. “I didn’t get into any arguments or confrontations with anyone. Then, out of nowhere, they ‘detained’ me and dragged me out of the park like an animal. They didn’t even ask me to leave.”

Feldman was shoved into a police van and taken to the police station, where soon after he was released without charges.

“The @nswpolice not only lied (allowing me to enter but then pulling me out), but also used ridiculously excessive force even after I pleaded with them that I could leave without being dragged like an animal” Feldman explained. “They also refused to put my kippah back on when their physical abuse caused it to fall off. I am shaken, but will not be intimidated. I’m a proud Australian Jew.”

Feldman has already noted he plans to take legal action following the incident.

This story comes out just days after the New South Wales Police released a notice on social media warning that protesters displaying the flag of Hezbollah or their past leader Nasrallah may face criminal charges.
