JLI: How I Went From Being a Gangster to a Religious Jew

Dr. Yehudah Pryce, DSW, MSW, is the senior director of national mental health and well-being programs at Defy Ventures and a psychotherapist at Beit T’Shuvah in Los Angeles, California. Raised in Los Angeles, he served 16 years for a teenage non-violent robbery. Since his release in 2018, he converted to Judaism, earned a master’s in social work from the University of Southern California, and works as a psychotherapist.

He speaks to audiences across the country about his journey from juvenile delinquency to Judaism and the power of community and teshuvah. He resides in Irvine, California, with his wife and 4 children.
