New Children’s Book Aims To Guide Them Through A Matzah Bakery

As the joyous celebration of Purim comes to an end, attention turns to the upcoming Yomtov of Pesach. Many children will visit Matzah bakeries as part of the preparations, and a new children’s book aims to guide them through this unique experience.

“Reuven the Matzah Baker,” written by Dina Sirota and illustrated by Nosson and Dovid Geisinsky, presents a captivating narrative that delves into the world of Matzah baking. The story follows Levi and his classmates as they embark on an enlightening journey to the Matzah Bakery, learning about the process of Matzah production and the values of Mesiras Nefesh for Yiddishkeit along the way.

The book serves not only as an educational tool but also as a preparation guide for children, schools, and families planning their own visits to Matzah bakeries.

The book is dedicated in memory of Reuven Sirota, Matzah baker of the Rebbe.

Reuven’s parents, Rabbi Mordechai and Rivka Sirota, courageously operated a secret Matzah bakery in their home, defying government restrictions. Their courageous efforts to ensure the availability of Matzah during challenging times inspire the narrative, highlighting the sacrifices made to uphold Yiddishkeit.
