The Chabad House on Beijing, China, run by Shliach Rabbi Shimon Freundlich, will be closed this shabbos after the husband of an Israeli diplomat was stabbed in a brazen attack on the city streets.

“BH we are safe,” Rabbi Freundlich wrote on social media. “A husband of an Israeli diplomat was stabbed in Beijing by what appears to be an Arab terrorist Yemach Shemam.”

The diplomats husband is in the hospital and in stable condition, but after the attack, the authorities have decided to increase security.

“After consultation with the Israeli Embassy and local authorities, (as well using common sense), we will be closed for this shabbos,” noted Rabbi Freundlich. “The local authorities will place 24 hour surveillance around our home compound and Chabad House.”

The attack comes on the Friday that has been named the “Day of Wrath” by Hamas, with their leaders calling for Arabs and Palestinians across the globe to take action. While not having detailed what they wanted done, many authorities have increased security over fear of terror attacks.
