BDE: Atara Liba Cohen, 9, OBM

With great sadness we report the tragic passing of Atara Liba Cohen OBM, a nine year old Lubavitch girl who was struck and killed by vehicle in a Toronto neighborhood.

Atara had been on the street when she was struck by a utility van. The driver of the van stopped and emergency services were called. Tragically she was pronounced deceased at the hopsital.

Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca exclaimed the tragedy, writing “On behalf of the City of Vaughan, my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the 10-year-old who lost her life in an accident in Vaughan. I know words are of little comfort when confronted with the loss of a precious young life.”

She is survived by her parents Shimmy and Henny Cohen, her sibling sand grandparents Bentzion and Ruth Cohen.

The Levaya will be held today, 3:00pm at 770 Chabad Gate in Toronto, with Kevurah at 3:30pm at Pardes Chaim, Nachalas Chabad section.

Shiva will take place at 299 Mullen Dr. Unit 73 through Friday.
