Two Chabad-Lubavitch educators won the 2007 Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education, which recognizes outstanding classroom-based teachers from preschool through Grade 12 in North American communities.

Yehudis Wolvovsky, educational director of Chabad: East of the River in Glastonbury, Conn., and a teacher at the Hebrew High School of New England; and Chana Sheinberger, a teacher at the Hebrew Academy Community School, a Lubavitch institution in Margate, Fla., were both singled out for their commitment to the field of Jewish education.

Each received $2,500, of which $1,500 must be spent on professional development.

“Teaching at my school is a major part of my commitment to my life as a Jew, and to ensure the growth of my community,” said Sheinberger in a press release. The positive impact I have on my students, instilling in them a life-long love of learning and a commitment to a Jewish way of life is my key satisfaction.”
