770 Yeshiva Makes Public Statement, Says Moshiach Shiur Vandals Are Not Students

by CrownHeights.info

The 770 Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim has published a public statement decrying last night’s vandalism and disturbance at a public Moshiach Shiur, calling out the act and saying that those responsible are not students at the Yeshiva.

As previously reported on CrownHeights.info, the weekly Geula U’Moshiach Shiur took place last night in the back of 770, continuing a seven year tradition.

Rabbi Shmully Avtzon, a Mashpia of the Yeshiva and Director of Sichos in English, took to the podium for the 7:30 Shiur with a rapt audience. The Shiur, with its message of Hakhel and Moshiach went well, until others decided to intervene.

Sadly, some people felt that the shiur should not go on, turning over a bag filled with raw eggs and torn up Sifrei Kodesh from the women’s section onto the heads of those joining the shiur.

According to reports, the coordinated incident involved multiple bochurim, with two pulling up to 770 in a vehicle with their faces covered. They then entered the women’s section and upended the bag filled with raw eggs and ripped up sefarim.

They then fled 770, running back to their vehicle and driving off.

Meet the dynamic duo of crime: Masked Menace #1 and Masked Menace #2.

These two shady characters were caught red-handed, dressed in all black and sporting masks to conceal their identities.

But little did they know, their carefully crafted plan was about to go awry. They hopped out of a rental car (nice try at covering your tracks, guys) and made a beeline for the women’s section of 770.

To anonymous, the correct spelling is שתיקה (not שטיקה as in shtick). But you make a good point – thank you CH.info for keeping us informed and not shying away like the other chabad news sites!
