From Kingston, PA to Crown Heights By Rail?

by CrownHeights.info

The Lubavitch community of Kingston Pennsylvania might soon have another direct route of travel to New York City. A Railroad.

Despite the almost 1800s feelings that railroads evoke in the United States, their use is becoming increasingly popular as congestion clogs roads and highways, making mid-distance travel a pain. So when a lot of money was set aside to enhance travel infrastructure, it’s not surprising that more than $100 Billion was tagged for railroads.

One of the infrastructure enhancements proposed by Amtrack is the reinstitution of the Scranton, PA to New York City rail line. Kingston, PA, being within a half hour drive of Scranton, would then have another route to New York City, a cheaper alternative to airfare or two and a half hour drive.

While these plans are still unapproved, even the possibility may enhance the drive of many Lubavitchers to the increasingly popular Pennsylvania town, which has seen incredible growth as residents flee New York City.

Some important factors would effect the feasibility of the rail lines use by local residents, including travel time and train schedules. In total, Amtrack believes they would see $87 million of economic activity every year.

For those considering to move to Kingston, please please please speak to the locals before making an offer on a house!! Prices are going up, and so are the taxes!!! Just because it’s cheaper than ch does not mean it’s cheap!!

  • Chabad is in Scranton Too

FYI there is Lubavitch Community in Scranton.
Not a Chabad House community but an actual Chabad Community.
And the train line is planned to end in Scranton – not Kingston/Wilkes-Barre.

  • Scranton community?

What age range of community is moving into Scranton? And is there a chabad school?
