Melbourne Australia — Rabbi Yitzchok Dovid Groner, the spiritual head of Melbourne’s Lubavitch community, has been released from hospital after receiving treatment for fluid on his lungs.

The Yeshivah Centre reported today that Rabbi Groner, 82, had been released from Cabrini hospital. The centre, which Rabbi Groner has headed since his arrival in Australia in the late 1950s, had been keeping the community updated on Rabbi Groner’s condition on its website since he was admitted to hospital last month.

Last week, Rabbi Groner stunned more than 1000 guests at a 50th-anniversary dinner for Yeshivah and Beth Rivkah Ladies colleges when he left his hospital bed for the night to address the simcha.

Rabbi Groner, who was sent to Australia by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in 1958, was one of the main drivers in building the then fledgling Yeshivah-Beth Rivkah.

Currently, the schools have 1500 students between them.
