Flowers Planted in front of 770

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Monday, Flowers have been planted in front of 770 today, in an effort to improve the garden. The work on the garden came after a recent Chupa at 770, where a couple of guests expressed their dislike for the way the garden looked, and decided to work on improving it by promising their funding of the work.

Kol hakavod to those who thought of this!

Giuliani had a simple theory for crime prevention: Improve the quality of life!
By ridding the streets of SqueeGee men, graffiti, and littering, he brought up the communal sense of pride and crime numbers were at an all time low.

In our community, new Kingston awnings, street lights and cleaner streets all contribute to making our community a safer, more pleasant place to live. It has an effect on our children’s attitudes too!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, again to those who did this. I am resolving to pick up random trash around my home on Carroll Street tomorrow as my small contibution towards beautifying Crown Heights.

    How about you?

I remember when the grass was magestic .. and the little bushes in the back were trimmed and looked beautiful. In fact the Rebbe’s ‘garden’ was the greenest grass in all of Eastern Parkway. Kids never ever walked on the garden in front of the Rebbe’s room. It was just too PLUSH.

    Oy I miss those days!

The flowers won’t last too long, the schorim will rip them out, or our own kids (unsupervised) will trample them to death.

    That’s Crown Heights.

First of all, I give a thankyou and kol hakavod to Mottel (message above) for his words.
Second of all….does everyone remember that the Rebbe gave out money to each person who did home improvements? This is what the Rebbe wants, I’m so happy that its being done. I just hope that the flowers are really special for this, and that the grass is well tended to.

This garden had very nice flowers not too long ago. More than once.
Unfortunately there are parents who do not teach their kids to stay off the grass. Even when a closed gate was erected around the grass which requiered the kids to endanger their life they still climbed over.
During chupas I watched parents glee with nachas when their little mendele was running through the flowers and even encouraged them to cut them!
No wonder the place looks the way it looks. The reason why the grass in front of the Rebbe’s room never does well is because of the huge tree standing there. The other half of the lawn is always green due to the tirless efforts of r yonoson hackner who works hard on making sure it receives enough water.
Something the neighbors can learn from…

the answer to how long they are meant to last is simple. its up to each and everyone of US to make sure that kids dont run and play in the garden.

It would be nice if we could get someone to sponsor the planting of some trees in front of 770. Maybe this will help get rid of the piles of garbage bags that greet people coming into 770 huh?
