Good Tidings? There’s An App for That

Rabbi Zalman Goldberg and his team recently launched a new app with the goal of enhancing people’s live through notifying the Rebbe of their Besuros Tovos (good tidings).

We all understand the joys of our wired world — the convenience, the laughs, the info, but we are only beginning to get our minds around the costs, the disconnection, the loss of focus, and the mental climate that is increasingly hard to manage. Rabbi Zalman Goldberg is working to change that.

In line with the Rebbe’s directive to use every medium for good, Rabbi Zalman Goldberg developed an app that can help you use your phone to increase your connection with the Hashem, the Rebbe, your family, and live a happier life.

Inspired by his website (www.gotbitachon.com) community’s passion for achieving a better life with the Chassidic paradigm, Zalman was looking for additional mediums to help build a habit of seeing our lives through Bitachon, a G-dly positive filter.

From the Rebbe’s writings, it is clear that focusing on Besuros Tovos, is a most powerful tool to make Bitachon a part of our life. The Rebbe’s requested on many occasions, that people make a habit of notifying him regularly of their happy occasions and assured that it would lead to having a better perspective and more joyful life.

Goldberg points out that, naturally, people tend to focus more on negative things, while good things often pass but briefly through the mind. Writing good daily happenings to the Rebbe, reminds us what we have to be grateful for, reframes everything else as good from Hashem, and puts us in an accepting and proactive state of mind.

Zalman reached out to Yossi Chanowitz, a one-man creative agency, who loved the idea and helped him button down the concept. “Within a week, Yossi had built out the app,” Zalman said, “we beta tested it, and the results blew us away.”

An early beta user of BesurosTovos shared how using the app is helping him during a rough period of getting a new business off the ground: “My happiness used to be tangled up with my success—writing Besuros Tovos daily, gave me a more stable base of contentedness, which actually made me more focused, productive and better able to navigate the daily ups and downs”.

Another user, a young mother shares: “My life has changed for the better since I stopped spending my free time wistfully browsing other people’s lives on social media, and started noticing and sharing the good in my life with the Rebbe. I’m more grounded and productive now, and am less concerned with what other people think of me – now, the only person I have to regularly compare myself with is myself and my goals.”

If your phone is indispensable to you, you have a perfect opportunity to use it to enhance your life. Download the BesurosTovos app today at iTunes for the iPhone and Google Play for Android devices.
