Father, Son Kidnapped on Way to Shul
A father and his son were kidnapped by gunman as they walked together to a Chabad Shul in Venezuela Shabbos morning. The gunman later made contact with the family and demanded a ransom for their release.
According to Arutz 7, negotiations then ensued between the kidnappers and the local Chabad Shliach. The ransom was paid, and the father and son were released unharmed.
Venezuela is currently facing political and economic instability as Socialist President Nicolas Maduro’s deeply unpopular government tries to grapple with widespread unrest, soaring crime rates and severe shortages of basic goods.
