Chanukah Celebrated with Canadian Armed Forces
The Toronto Jewish community celebrated Chanukah by joining with the men and women who serve in the Canadian Armed Forces.
The event was organized by Rabbi Yonah Vilenkin of Tzivos Hashem Canada, Rabbi Spalter of Chabad of Ontario and chaplain captain Rabbi Lazer Danzinger of the Canadian armed forces.
The event started with a grand menorah lighting at the entrance to the Denison Armory, with more than 700 community members attending the ceremony. Also in attendance were many Toronto City and military officials.
Guests were invited into the armory to explore the facility and the military gear and equipment on display. Each child received a free military helmet, which they then decorated with Chanukah stickers. The simulated shooting range was also open to some of the guest in attendance.
