Yeka Staff Visit Campers All Over Ukraine for Chanukah

Since its inception three years ago, the annual Camp Yeka “Light Up Ukraine” Chanukah campaign has shown to be a great success. Each day of Chanukah, a dedicated group of staff-members travel throughout the country and bring the light of Chanuka to their campers, their friends and their families.

The trip plays a vital role in accomplishing the camp’s shlichus by connecting the camper’s summer experience with their day to day lives.

The Bochurim also Farbreng with the local Shlucihm and their families, some of whom live in far out areas, giving them chizuk and chassidishkeit which they anticipate the entire year.
Camp Yeka is again ahead of the trend this time by selling unique “Yeka Yo Yos” with the camp’s emblem, for all who donate $200 or more to help fund the “Light Up Ukraine” Chanukah tour. “So far the unique Yo Yo twist has added much exicetment to the fundraising efforts,” says Yisroel Eichenblatt, the trip’s organizer. The Yo Yos are also being distributed to over 1,000 children during the trip.

The staff have already visited the cities of Kiev, Cherkassy, Zhitomir and Odessa. They are currently on their way to Nikolayev, Kherson, Zaporozhya, Dneprpetrovsk, Dneprdzherzinsk and Kharkov. They will be visiting over 1,000 children in ten cities, 3 orphanages, 9 schools and 2 youth groups throughout Ukraine.
