Crown Heights Attorney Gives Back Again

After sponsoring the recent Siyum Hashas at Chovevei Torah, prominent Crown Heights attorney Rabbi Shimon Aharon Rosenfeld has once again rewarded excellent learning in the Chovevei Torah Zal. While most bochurim in the yeshiva have completed and mastered the entire Mesichta Kiddushin, Mendy Ross, Shaya Spielman and Shaya Zirkind were selected to be put through a complete and thorough testing of the entire 82 blatt meshichta memorized and all at one time.

The testing took place in Rabbi Rosefeld’s office. Over the course of four hours(!) the bochurim reviewed page by page of the mesechta from memory! Rabbi Yisroel Labkowsky, rosh yeshiva, and Rabbi Mendel Blau, menahel, who sat in on the test, could not have been prouder of the bochurim as they amazingly remembered every name in the gemara and the connection and flow of each part.

Rabbi Rosenfeld came back to the yeshiva to personally come to share his gratefulness for the opportunity to be part of such great Torah achievements. He spoke to the bochurim about his days in the yeshiva and reminisced about the care and guidance Reb Yisorel Labkowsky gave him many years ago. He said that this guidance helped him develop the appreciation for learning that follows him to this very day. He then presented the bochurim with large cash prizes for their hard work.

The event took place in Chovevei Torah Zal, which just recently received the addition of a beautiful wall of bookcases. The magnifect bookcases were designed by Rabbi Mendel Blau and masterfully crafted by 2 bochurim in the yeshiva, Tanchum Shuchat and Mendy Goodman, during their free time throughout the year.

The project is part of a continuous effort to raise the level of Ruchniyus and Gashmiyus in the Yeshiva.
