Crown Heightsers Demand: ‘Bring Back Our Boys’

Over 100 members of the Crown Heights community gathered last night, Tuesday, in front of the Jewish Children’s Museum to take a stand on behalf of the three Israeli teenagers kidnapped by Palestinian terrorists last week.

The event was organized by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, who addressed the gathering along with New York City Public Advocate Letitia James and Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo.

The three teenagers, Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrach, were hitchhiking near the Chevron area in the West Bank when they disappeared last Thursday night. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Hamas for the kidnapping, and said every effort was being undertaken to ensure the boys’ safe return.

Dear several dozen people of Crown Heights,

You know, I wasn’t going to bring back your boys until I saw this stirring and meaningful protest this morning when I checked CH.info (as I do daily). The candles really brought to my mind the souls of these boys, and I realized that it’s wrong to kidnap people for political gain.

I hereby renounce terrorism and am ending my campaign for a Palestinian state. Also, I’m gonna buy a SodaStream!

    Sincerely,

    Mahmoud Abbas
    Chairman, PLO

  • glad to see chanina

I was very impressed by the inclusion of the African-American leadership for this cause.
May G-d bless everyone who came and cared so much for the lives of these teens.
HaShem should immediately bring them home, safe and healthy.
    Ruach tumah aver min haretz.

This article, photo’s of the event is extremely impressive and inspiring, yet I cannot understand, how is it that already SIX DAYS R”L have already gone by and yet not one article about Chabad checking the mezuzot and Tiffilen of the homes and family members of the captive bochurim???

Isn’t that the first thing the Rebbe would almost always instruct us to do! Especially when there is involved terrorism r”l like in Maalot school or Entenbbe???

  • #BringBackOur

Although, I have my reservations about this #hashtag lunacy, I still feel that it’s prudent that we have solidarity during this extremely challenging and difficult time and show the families of these boys and the world that we stand by our fellow brothers wherever they may be!

  • Negative

Stop with the negative comments. If you want a larger crowd then do something about it! If you want to write articles about checking the mezzuzas (not really sure how that’s going to help at this point but ok) then write it, or go to Israel and check them yourself. stop blaming the people who are showing concern.

  • Check Mezuzos and Teffillen ASAP

The comment started with “This article, photo’s of the event is extremely impressive and inspiring”!!! That was not negative! It was certainly not the intention of the writer!

Tachlis, if the writer was in Israel he perhaps would go himself and encourage the families to check their teffilen and Mezuzois!

He isn’t in Israel so he is doing, as per our Rebbe’s directives, the next best thing, appealing to readers who are in the Holyland and / or the shluchim in Talmon and the other cities of the families (and through out the world) to request and encourage all the family members and friends of the captives, if they did not check their teffilen and mezuzois in the last twelve months to immediately do so ASAP!

As per what you write “not really sure how that’s going to help at this point” we Jews believe, at the Rebbe’s strong encouraging, that by correcting any possible flaw in a mitzva “up there” it has a direct effect down here!

Sick people – get better and captives are freed BE”H!

In fact, I recall how Rabbi Reichiick Z”L and YBLC”T Rabbi Gereletzky sheyichye were sent AROUND THE GLOBE to find every Jewish passenger who had been on the Entebbe – Air France hijacked plane to check their Mezuzos AFTER THE HIJACKING! See Oufaratzta journal article Yossi & Yossi!

The same regarding the terrorist attack in the Jewish school of Maalot!

So, no, this is not negative rather a heartfelt plea!

Please, in addition to these WONDERFUL acts of unity, prayer and solidarity, PLEASE anyone who has the ability around the globe, please use this opportunity to make a great Shturem about checking Mezuzois and Teffilen, especially anyone who can actually approach, in a very respectful way, the family and friends of the captives!

Explain that this action of checking mezuzois will be a Zechus – Merit for the captives, may Hashem Yisborech free the speedily Amain!
