15,000 Lines of Tanya Learned by Heart at ULY

On Thursday, Lubavicher Yeshiva-Crown Street held an award ceremony to recognize the Talmidim who learned Tanya Bal Peh during the year.

The program was sponsored by Rabbi Mordechai and Mrs. Shterny Kanelsky of New Jersey, under the auspices of the Bas Sheva Mitzvah Campaign to Greet Moshiach, which they launched ten years ago in loving memory of their daughter, Bas Sheva, OBM.

During the ceremony, the students received a beautiful, personalized certificate indicating the amount of Tanya learned, a crisp 2 dollar bill and a special Sefer.

Over the past ten years, thousands of boys have participated in this program throughout the Tri-State Area, and have all earned well-deserved gifts for their efforts.

During the event, Rabbi Y. Y. Simpson and Rabbi Kanelsky addressed the students, and the students chanted, by heart, a portion of the first Perek of Tanya.

The program concluded with a group photo and refreshments. The Talmidim were then encouraged to continue learning Tanya Bal Peh, especially in the summer months when they are not in Yeshiva.

Rabbi Kanelsky thanked Rabbi Simpson and his staff for their encouragement with this program.

This year, over 115 boys earned prizes and certificates – a record number of participants for this program. After the awards were handed out, the Kanelskys treated the entire school to multi-colored cupcakes decorated with the letter Taf, for Tanya.

This year, Talmidim in Yeshiva learned over 15,000 lines of Tanya Be’al Peh! They – and their parents –have a lot to be proud of.
