Students Rewarded with Shabbaton in South Florida

After the students of Oholei Torah’s Eighth Grade (OTEG) completed a month-long Mivtza Hachono for Yud Shvat, eight lucky students won the raffle and were rewarded with a Shabbaton on the sunny South Florida island of Key Biscayne.

The Mivtza had the boys learning a weekly booklet discussing the importance of having the right mindset and concentration during Davening. They then learned the meaning of the three Parshiyos of Shema, as well as what Chassidus has to say on the subject.

“This Mivtza really added meaning and geshmak in my daveing,” one student was overheard saying.

Aside for the raffle for the Florida Shabbaton, all students who participated in the Mivtza received great rewards, including Seforim, gift certificates and an upcoming ice-skating trip.

The lucky winners who spent Shabbos at Chabad of key Biscayne went biking, toured a 100 year-old lighthouse, took a boat ride to Miami and went snorkeling. The Shabbaton ended with an inspiring Shabbos Farbrengen with the Shliach, Rabbi Yoel Caroline.

A heartfelt Yasher Koach goes to the entire Caroline family for hosting the students, and to the four Shluchim of Oholei Torah Eighth Grade – Yehuda Carlebach, Avremel Caroline, Shmuel Wagner and Mendel Zaltzman – for their tireless efforts in arranging and running the Mivtza.

  • Beautiful!

Amazing to see such beautiful programs for our youth in such a stimulating experience!

  • nice but................

I never liked it that when my son was in 8th grade only a select few would go on special trips. Some kids just can’t learn as well as others even if they try can’t. (im including some of my kids in this who were selected to Tosfos clubs, etc i still didnt find it fair) . When it comes to fancy trips fro the grade everyone should go and the ones who excel can get something extra. You think the kids that don’t go are not jealous? i dont know just doesn’t sound right
