Rabbi O’s Yeshiva Rocks 24 Hours of Purim

As the sun was slowly setting, simcha rose quickly in the halls of Rabbi O’s yeshiva. Purim was in the air! As the final hunger-pangs of the fast were receding, the bochurim transformed from ‘laid-back students’ into ‘leibedika bochurim.’

Donning costumes and crazy clothing, they boarded a bus and were on their way to Young Israel of Margate to enhance their Simchas Purim. After hearing the Megillah by Shliach Mendel Wolowik, the students of YNS quickly went hand–in-hand with the Young Israel congregation, joyously singing and dancing.

After a few hours the boys headed back to the yeshiva, where they sang and danced until late at night. Purim morning they eagerly fulfilled all of the mitzvos of the day, except for the seuda. For that they waited for the people of the community to enter the brightly decorated gymnasium. With a sushi-cocktail dinner and a lively band to get going, the students mustered up boundless energy from an unknown source and kept everyone on their feet until long after the sun went down.

As the final guests walked out, the farbrengen began with Reb Shimon Kroll of Monsey, a father of one of the bochurim. He told over personal encounters with the Rebbe. Rabbi O then went on to explain how the ‘modern-day Haman’ wants to complete what the original one failed to do.

The farbrengen went on until the wee hours of the morning; however, Purim was not yet over for the bochurim – they were just getting started…

Rabbi O and the entire yeshiva would like to give a great big Yasher Koach to the awesome band that made Purim one that they will always remember. Many thanks to the very talented musicians: Dovber Gurevitch at the guitar, Dovid Joseph at the keyboard and Zalmi Hershkop at the drums.
