Mushkie’s Gift to Bring Smiles to Birthday Children

The Rebbe introduced the “Birthday Campaign” on 25 Adar 5748, the first birthday of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka after her histalkus. Today, 21 Shvat, the day before the Rebbetzin’s yohrtzeit, our daughter Mushkie, named after the Rebbetzin, would have celebrated her first birthday.

In Mushkie’s memory, we started a project to send birthday packages to the siblings of children who have special needs. Aside for gifts and treats, we will also include in the packages the Rebbe’s birthday instructions, adapted for children.

Children who have special needs demand a tremendous amount of time, energy, and attention from their parents. This demand sometimes diminishes the time, energy, and attention the parents have available for their other children. By default, the siblings may not get as much attention and love as they deserve.

Now, imagine these children coming home one day from school to find a package for them, with their name on it, for their birthday. You can just see their faces light up and feel their excitement as they open the package and discover what was sent specifically for them.

It is a tremendous comfort to know that the lives of these children will be brightened, even for a moment, because of our precious Mushkie.

Please partner with us to make these children’s birthdays the happy and special day it is meant to be.

Mushkie’s Gift is a joint project with the Friendship Circle of Brooklyn. Click here for more information.

a very wise project. This reminds me of a woman who spoke once about the “Glass Children
….children who are trying to be strong for their parents to be able to deal with special needs siblings, but they are actually fragile themselves. I think that this can be found on internet. It has given some insight to others about how the siblings, as they say here, are affected.
Yes, we do have to help the siblings.
May it only bring help and positive.
