N’shei Chabad of Montreal Hosts Hey Teves Auction

Every year on Hei Teves, the women of N’shei Chabad of Montreal organize a beautiful event, where ladies come together and celebrate Seforim.

This year was no exception.

The evening was well-attended, with over one hundred women present, and was beautifully decorated. There were tables all around the Bais Rivkah auditorium, where the prizes could be viewed and raffle tickets could be deposited. The stage held a wonderful sweet table, with many homemade items.

Mrs. Shoshana Lesches shared some Halachos from the morning routine and then Rabbi Bell spoke eloquently about the details of the court case, at which he was actually present at the time, sharing many new aspects of the story that are not well-known.

Hei Teves is the day that the U.S. court ruled in favor of the Chabad Chassidim being the true owners of the Rebbe’s library, and the books were subsequently returned to the organization, Agudei Chasidei Chabad.

Rabbi Bell shared that the judge, upon hearing the statement from the deposition of the Rebbe’s wife, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, said in open court “that is a truly remarkable statement.” The famous quote of the Rebbetzin from the deposition is that upon being asked if she thinks the books belong to her husband or the Chassidim, she replied: “the Rebbe and the seforim belong to the Chassidim.” Even the non-Jewish judge thought this was a pretty amazing answer.

The auction was organized by “Evening with friends,” namely Mrs. Shterni Rosenfeld and Mrs. Shaindy Zirkind, and raised funds for their future events, which are always a treat for all those who attend.
