Diligent Students Rewarded with Ice Skating Trip

At United Lubavitcher Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway, the Shmuel Shrage Middos Program put a new twist on Mishnayos Baal Peh by organizing a menu system for rewards.

As the Talmidim continue to learn Torah by committing it to memory, they acquire points; and by taking optional Halacha quizzes they collect more points. Once they have as many points as they need, they can pick form the menu of trips where they would like to go. Options include: fishing, hiking, skiing, barbecue at the park, ice skating, backpacking, sailing and more.

This week, a small group of students earned enough points and chose to go ice skating with a waterfront picnic. They had a blast!

Other students can’t wait for snow to arrive so they can use their points for a skiing trip in the Catskill or Pocono mountains.

The Yeshiva hopes the menu will whet the talmidim’s appetite to learn more Torah by heart then ever before.
