Yaldei Shluchei HaRebbe Launches ‘SibClix’

Build and Destroy? These magical words held a group of young shluchim captivated as they participated in the launch event of Yaldei Shluchei HaRebbe’s SibClix program during the Kinus HaShluchim. The program was hosted by Rabbi Levi Raichik, Yaldei’s Sibling Coordinator.

SibClix is a program that was created by Yaldei Shluchei HaRebbe, a division of Merkos 302, for the brothers and sisters of children with special needs growing up on Shlichus. This event for brothers of special siblings on shlichus kicked off a new line of creative and interactive programming to be enjoyed year round.

The boys were treated to an evening of fun, including a pizza party, two raffles, a build and destroy egg drop team building exercise and, most importantly, an opportunity to get to know other boys dealing with similar situations. All in all the event was a smashing success and everyone had a blast.

Yaldei is looking forward to launching the girls’ division of SibClix at the Kinnus Hashluchos.

It’s no secret that it takes a village to raise a child with special needs. Parents find themselves with time consuming responsibilities, an added burden on the busy schedule of a shliach, which in turn takes a steep toll on the entire family. We have found that the truly unsung heroes of these families are the brothers and sisters of our special children!

‘Yaldei’ has recognized the great need for sibling support. This past summer Yaldei launched SibClix, its brand new Siblings Program. The SibClix team is made up of Yaldei’s own talented individuals that have the personal experience of growing up with a special sibling.

The Siblings Program is designed to provide a support system and network for the brothers and sisters of children with special needs living in remote areas without a proper peer group. The program uses online forums and interactive group and video chats to help connect siblings around the world. It includes an annual weekend retreat as well as regional events that allow the participants to meet in person and strengthen their friendships. Retreats and events center around fun activities designed to bring kids together, build trust and eventually open up and support one another. It is our goal to include trained mental professionals and educators in the development and implementation of our programs to ensure that participants receive the highest level of support.

In addition to events and meetings is the monthly SibClix newsletter. “The Sibling Wavelength” is an interesting and educational resource to get kids thinking and encourage them to share their own thoughts for publication.
