Monsey BCM Celebrates Fourth Annual Dinner

Parents, supporters, friends and members of the greater Monsey community gathered this past Sunday night in the ballroom of the Regency Banquet and Conference Center in Nanuet, for the fourth annual Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka High School for Girls dinner.

The evening began with the recitation of Tehillim, followed by divrei brocho from the Rav of Tzemach Tzedek of Monsey, Rabbi Baruch D. Lesches. Rabbi Eli Drew, Esq., a board member of MBCM, then introduced the comedian Mr. Reuven Russel as Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

Following a brief stand up routine, Mr. Russel called up Mr. Yitzchok Abromowits who introduced and presented Rabbi Yeruchem Cohen with the Amud HaChesed award. Rabbi Cohen used the occasion to honor his late mother, Mrs. Mollyo Cohen O.B.M., who passed away six weeks ago. Rabbi Cohen and his family established The Mollyo Cohen Scholarship fund to help students of Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka. Noting his retirement from Citibank after twenty eight years, Rabbi Cohen also thanked his Citi colleagues for their friendship. He then went on to speak movingly about his mother and her commitment to education.

Mr. Russel then introduced Rabbi Rony and Mrs. Chana Greenberg who received the Parents of the Year award. Rabbi Greenberg explained how the school has become a real part of their lives being that his wife and daughter teach there and two other daughters are students at MBCM. He further expressed deep appreciation to the faculty and administration of Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka for providing a warm and Chassidishe chinuch for their daughters.

Following the presentations, the school’s founder and Dean, Rabbi Dr. Chaim D. Kagan, explained how the school started and how it has grown over the years. Praising the devoted and superb teaching staff, and the high standards of academic achievement in both Limudei Kodesh and L’havdil General Studies, Rabbi Kagan stressed the true success of the girls living and internalizing what they have learned. Rabbi Kagan then discussed the new campus being built in South Monsey which is expected to be ready next fall.

In an exciting announcement, Rabbi Kagan called to the podium Mr. Moshe Meschaninov, who together with his brother Mr. Elya Meschaninov, pledged a significant donation to fully cover the heating and air conditioning systems the new building.

The keynote address was delivered by renowned educator Reb Shimon Waronker who held the audience spellbound with his stories of how the Rebbe’s brochos and his chassidishe hiskashrus guided him in turning around a failing public school to a success recognized internationally.

The event was streamed live to many friends of the honorees who could not attend.

The attendees left inspired and uplifted.
