South Florida Girls Celebrate Jewish Womanhood
A group of girls in South Florida enjoyed a mass birthday celebration with their families as part of their local Bat Mitzvah Club. Members of the club, a project of Chabad-Lubavitch of South Broward, met each Sunday over the past year in Hallandale to learn about Jewish women throughout history through the use of hands-on activities and art projects.
“Our focus is to challenge and stimulate our members, encouraging the girls to learn more about this unique time in their lives, and help them gain new perspectives on their positions as women, as adults and as Jews,” said Rabbi Levi Tennenhaus who directs the South Broward Chabad House together with his wife, Dassy Tennenhaus.
“As they shared interests, goals, and experiences, club members developed a sense of unity and friendship with other Jewish girls their age,” said Dassy Tennenhaus. “They learned about the positive contributions they can make to themselves, their families, and the Jewish community at large.”
abbi Levi Tennenhaus greeted the girls’ parents and congratulated them on the occasion. “Our focus is to challenge and stimulate our members, encouraging the girls to learn more about this unique time in their lives, and help them gain new perspectives on their positions as women, as adults and as Jews,” said Tennenhaus who directs the South Broward Chabad House together with his wife, Dassy Tennenhaus.
