New Yeshiva College Shines in Schools’ Rankings
The newly established Yeshiva College Primary School in Bondi, first in Australia to have Torah studies approved equivalent to secular studies with regard to Government requirements, ranked within the top 3 Jewish Primary Schools in Sydney and within the top 12% of all Primary Schools in the State of New South Wales.
The rankings were released as part of a national education report published on 29 January 2010. The Australian Government released rankings of Primary Schools based on the average of their results for reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and numeracy.
This is an exceptional result for Yeshiva, a school which has won plaudits from the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd and Governor General, Quentin Bryce. Both visited the school and Yeshiva Centre where they received Menorahs.
Yeshiva ranked ahead of the largest Jewish School in Sydney, Moriah College and the Modern Orthodox, Kesser Torah. It also came ahead of the select Reddam College which has a large Jewish student population.
Principal Rebbetzin Pnina Feldman said, “This outstanding result is an expected yet amazing endorsement of our School’s Torah education program.”
“It is particularly pleasing to receive such wonderful news so early in our School’s history.”
“Credit is due to the excellent teaching staff and parents and students who have placed their confidence in a Torah education. Not only has the secular education not been compromised but has indeed excelled.”
The NSW schools ranked as follows
Mount Sinai – 34
Masada College – 67
Yeshiva College – 127
Moriah College – 131
Emanuel – 152
Reddam – 154
Kesser Torah – 220
A Department of Education spokeswoman frowned at the rankings which were created by media. SHe told J-Wire: “It was not our intention to produce a ranking rate per school. The idea is simply to offer the opportunity of comparing school results within a given area.”

I think this headline is a little silly.Sorry.There are 6 Jewish schools in Sydney, so being “number three”, especially when not very far ahead of the next in line means very little.
C’mon now.

i believe kesser torah is a chabad school – just uncontrolled by the head shaliach… not ‘modern orthodox’ as the author suggests
informer
Mount Sinai – 34 – completely not a religious school
Masada College – 67 – completely not a religious school
Yeshiva College – 127 – Frum School
Moriah College – 131 – Barely Frum
Emanuel – 152 – Reform
Reddam – 154 – not jewish, but has jewish classes
Kesser Torah – 220 – Frum School
So as you can see its not much of a achievment… as there isnt even 6 jewish schools there… dont see what the piont of the article is…..

Kesser Torah is not “modern orthodox”. Moriah is the modern orthodox school in Sydney.
please
why so negative? so the government does something worthless and they publish it on Jwire and some chabad site sees it so they publicize that chabad is getting publicity. yipee. be happy for them. who cares how they placed/ they placed!

Well done Yeshiva College on such a tremendous achievement! It’s great to see that with such little time designated per day for secular studies, you still ranked very high in the government tests – even higher than most of the other jewish dayschools in the city (who study secular studies for the majority of the day!) Yasher Koach!!!
anonmouse
its not only the jewish schools it’s all the schools in the state
To Peniny
For a school with a very large majority of Limudei Kodesh compared to all other Jewish schools with a large Majority of it’s learning being Secular Studies, this is an unbelievable achievement. Especially to be ranked in the top 150 out of over 1000 (Non Jewish) Public and Private Schools in the state.

HahaHAHaha calm down all you pple and don’t forget who the rebbes shluchim are !!!!!!

Kesser Torah has no mention of Chabad or Lubavitch on their school website. http://Http://www.ktc.nsw.e…

The rankings are out of hundreds of schools. Most of the Jewish schols did do well. But Yeshiva is running the “Torah Studies” program with reduced secular focus within the requiremnets for the State, and still shown to have ranked just out of the Top 100.
Owl
Kesser Torah is chabad oriented but has thrown out the cream of Sydney Chabad because of political differences with the shaliach. Even their own rabbis’ sons end up at the Shaliach’s Yeshiva College not Kesser Torah

“Kesser Torah is a Chabad School” That is very interesting! The school vice president is not Shomer Torah Umitzvos, most of the board members are not Chabad, so in which way is the school a Chabad school?
What Chabad school in the world has non Chabad people running the school?
unimpressed
i am very unimpressed by 2 things
first of all i am a proud cheder parent but i do not like 2 things.
1 the whole compatition is rigged they told all the not so smart kids(my son) to stay home while the smart kids did all the work
2how dare u say that kesser torah is a modern orthadox school when the teach chasius as a subject????
THERE IS ALOT MORE THAN IT SEEMS TO THE NAKED EYE
amazed!!
if yeshiva who are focusing on jewish studies got top 3 imagine what they would of gotten if there focus was on secular! (like the other schools were {secular} and yeshiva still got top 3!) now thats an achievment! if there secular wich isnt there focus is amazing how much more so there hebrew studies wich is there focus much be spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!
go yeshiva and the feldmans who make everything in yeshiva happen!!!
to comment 2
take the fact that there not chabad!
what makes them chabad, because they learn 15 min of kodesh a day!
why
The purpose of this article i presume is to show off and publicize the achievements of the cheder and whilst doing so making it a point that they ranked higher than “kesser torah” which is no longer run by the Feldmans. Congratulations you have achieved a great deal and we are very happy for you.
From this article and many others printed in the past of the Yeshiva. We’ve seen a great number of functions and events by Yeshiva etc. But instead of shmuttzing it in the face of the rest of the community,That your still running and functioning despite the setbacks and machlokis. Instead why don’t you think about the bigger picture in life, that your goal is to essentially to accomplish/promote achdus in the community and therefore whilst your articles are getting you great pr with chabad around the world, Back home in Sydney your just tearing the communty apart. because Without achdus theres nothing!!!!!!!!
I guess when one reads this they will start the blame game etc. But stop thinking about yourselves for a minute and think about promoting achdus.
willy
as usual good pr no chinuch
noo this is chinuch showing off your children to a governor general

Well done again Rabbi Feldman & Rebbetzin
You are Real Rebbes Shluchim ,
Time after Time you managed to come through, obviously the Rebbe does not let His Shluchim down . I believe you will continue to grow & build strong Jewish community in Sydney, with the Rebbes help . In Relation to Keser Torah comment being a Modern Orthodox (what is definition of modern orthodox ) school, in my opinion this has been exaggerate . The school indisputably not Chabad –Lubavich or Chasidic , & unquestionably not a Rebbes Moised (by its own choice) .
I only wish to all parties involved in True Chinuh of Jewish children: they should be blessed in everything Good that they do .
And bring true ideshe naches to the Rebbe .
