WASHINGTON, DC [CHI] — The United Jewish Communities (UJC), Jewish Federation of North America announced the 20 semifinalists for their Jewish Community Hero Award. There were over half a million votes cast, choosing from 450+ nominees. Voters selected 12 Shluchim and Chabad activists out of a total of 20 semifinalists.

Shluchim Among Semifinalists for Jewish Community Hero

The Jewish Community Hero Award honors those making strides to repair the world, starting in their own communities. Over 500,000 votes have been cast to help narrow the field to 20 candidates.

Now that voting is complete and the semifinalist have been selected, the UJC will be introduce the judges who will narrow the field of the 20 semifinalists down to 5 finalists, including the Jewish Community Hero of the Year. But before they do, they want to hear what you think about each of the Heroes who’ve made it this far.

The winner will get $25,000 for their cause and a trip to Washington DC to be honored at the Jewish Federations of North America’s General Assembly.
