Crash Damages 3 Parked Cars – Driver Fled, Returned

CROWN HEIGHTS — Late Monday night a car traveling at a high rate of speed collided with a parked car and force of the impact damaged two others as well. Eyewitnesses saw the driver and a female passenger flee, only to later return with an absurd story.

The incident occurred at around 12:15am near the intersection of Carroll Street and Brooklyn Avneue. Eyewitnesses said that the lone vehicle, a gray Nissan Altima, was speeding down Brooklyn and slammed straight into a parked car and made no attempt to stop.

A male driver and female passenger got out of the vehicle and fled down Carroll towards Kingston.

A short while later, as police began investigating what had occurred, a man returned to the scene and claimed to be the driver of the car and that he had fled since someone had tried to carjack him at gunpoint about 15 blocks away.

Needless to say that the story sounded incredible, and according to witnesses the driver that did indeed flee the scene was wearing white pants and the man who returned was not. Also, it did not appear that he had sustained any injuries and was not complaining of any pains as result of the accident.

Nevertheless police took the claimed driver down to the precinct and had him look at mug shots in attempt to identify the carjacker.
