Off Duty Firefighter Seriusly Injured in Crash
An off duty FDNY firefighter was struck and seriously injured in a Wednesday evening smashup on Eastern Parkway. Eyewitnesses said that he flipped off his motorcycle multiple times, and came to rest some 300 feet from his bike in the opposite traffic lane.
The collision occurred at around 9:20pm heading eastbound on Eastern Parkway between New York and Brooklyn Avenues, where the cyclist was struck by a car and went flying off his bike – finally coming to rest on the next block.
EMS and Hatzalah rushed to the scene, where they found the injured firefighter conscious and alert, but in critical condition, with exposed fractures in his leg and shattered bones in his arm.
He was rushed to Kings County Hospital and went straight into the operating room. He is currently listed as in critical but stable condition.
