So much for these new intersections. you take your life in your hands every time you cross a street round here.

So…who was at fault? And where was the school crossing guard?

Obviously the driver was at fault. If the car was turning right from Brooklyn Avenue on a green light then the pedestrian crossing Empire Blvd. clearly would have a walk signal or the like and the right of way – the car was supposed to yield to a pedestrian in the cross walk under State law.

Traffic calming, eh? Road diet, eh? Thank you, Mayor Bloomberg! Thank you, Commissioner Sadik-Khan!

lets assume there was a crossing guard there and lets say that the jeep made too sharp of a turn. or lets even say that the lady was scared and started rushing acrowss the street and then slipped.

You werent there and neither was I so………………….

MAYBE just maybe they BOTH had a red light and the lady assumed that she can make it across the street due to the new renovations of the intersections

  • watched another one happen on yom tov

There was an accident there on Yom Tov also… dangerous intersection now!

  • eye witness

I was feet away from the corner to cross it myself when the accident happened and the light turned red so it seems to me that they were both trying to make the light! The incident took place at 9:07 A.M. and the first thing I noticed was that B”H there were no children on the street at that time (so the crossing guard may have finished her shift).

Its Possible it was ONLY the Pedestrians fault-

Maybe the turning jeep enterd Empire while GREEN but could’nt turn until the light turned red – and the pedestrian ran into the street.

Its possible that the jeep is totaly innocent

to the 2nd comment: just because the driver is supposed to let the pedestrian go first, doesn’t mean drivers actually think that. Some drivers think they own the road and the pedestrians should feel grateful the drivers “let” them use the road as well.

Last week I almost got run over by a car on East New York as I was crossing troy. They started to make a right right on to me. I guess they didn’t bother to look and see if anyone was going across. B”H, he swerved. Today the same thing happened, but not as dramatically. I’m crossing, it’s green, it’s my turn and someone almost started to turn right into me.

  • GOD!!!

OMG!!AAAAAAAH thats were we walk to skewl every day a that corner its really dangeros all these cars are like fling throught the streets!
