Thank G-d the driver, an off duty police officer, was alert and spotted the girl and managed to stop just in time, avoiding what could have Chas V’shalom be a serious tragedy.

The little girl was hit by the SUV and only knocked over only scaring her, but not taking any chances Hatzalah was called and had the girl checked out. She was then transported to a doctor to be further checked out.

One safe lttle girl, thanks to an alert cop is worth all of the tickets the “ over zealous ” ones give

PS No one was ever ticketed for not wearing a seat belt
    when they had one on

No one was ever ticketed for talking on a cell phone when
    they were not

    Etc.

    These laws save lives.

Just imagine if that alert cop was talking to his wife on
his cell phone and was unable to avoid hitting the little
    girl chas v’sholom

  • driver AND pedestrian

Well, we all know no action will be taken against the driver, even if it wasn’t his fault. Glad the child is OK, but it’s time for some road safety speeches in schools, camps & dare i say it, at home! Very little kids should be in a stroller if a still-young child is in charge. These kids move like greased lightening!

  • Almost watched a kid die

I almost saw a kid die on Friday. He drove his bike without a helmet across the lane in front of 770. He almost lost his life. Lucky for him the driver had good reflexes. The most amazing thing was that the kid then looked at the driver as if he was crazy! I couldn’t believe it.

  • THINK ABOUT THIS DURING THE 3 WEEKS

    B“H

If I had a lot of money, I’d personally sponsor a campaign to stop the ubiquitous practice of waiting IN THE STREET to cross the street.

EVERYONE seems to do it these days, in New York — the old, the young, the Black, the White, the Yid, the Goy, etc.

Nevermind also, that a lot of those who wait IN THE STREET to cross the street are ALSO busy focused on their cellphones – talking, or pushing buttons with their eyes on the phone monitor screen!!

MAKE A HACHLOTAH NOW — At least during the rest of these Three Weeks, ALWAYS wait on the sidewalk to cross the street.

Even better, while waiting on the sidewalk at corners where there is a traffic signal, also wait for the light to change, so that you’re crossing WITH THE LIGHT — or with the ”walking mentsch,“ not with the ”red hand”! What, everyone works for Hatzolah, and their life is one big emergency after another, and so they can’t wait for the light to change before crossing???

It’s time to be a Dugma Chaya. This is more powerful stuff than you might think — who knows, you might save a life, just by setting this good example!

    BE SAFE!

To Meir, my husband was ticketed while wearing a belt, he NEVER, EVER drives without a belt, he went to trial, he could not prove that he had his belt on, as the officer said he just had put it on, they do whatever they want.

  • It-s the 3 weeks

Now, during the three weeks, and with the nine days fast approaching, we have to be EXTREMELY careful with what we do. Though it’s quite understandable that we should always be cautious, please make sure to go that extra measure. The most tragic events in history, the burning of Bayis Rishon and Bayis Shayni, was enough. We don’t need any more! May we be zoche to the coming of Moshiach now, and may we turn this time of sorrow, into a time of joy.

Yours is the exception.Cops do make mistakes

Rather than bemoan what happened to you and make it seem that this is a everyday occurrence-“ they do whatever they want”, you thereby discourage others from practicing safe driving-wear a belt, use a cord to speak on the phone etc.

What happened to you is not the point of the matter

  • To Meir

An accident does not permit police to give out fake tickets.

Wearing a seatbelt does not stop accidents,
It just makes the DRIVER HIMSELF more safe, not anyone else – It makes more sense to give tickets to people who cross in middle of Eastern parkway of of any street
They are in more danger than a driver without a seatbelt.
A Bike is in more danger than a driver without a seatbelt.

Also in the city where cars dont exceed 30 (40) MPH, the drivers are not in such danger even without a seatbelt.

Giving out false tickets just make people fight the law not keep it

  • 99 CENT BABIES

LET’S CALL A SPADE A SPADE, TOO MANY MOTHERS IN CROWN HEIGHTS SEEM TO BUY THEIR CHILDREN IN THE 99 CENT STORE, THEREFORE DON’T WORRY ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM. I WOULD BE RICH IF I HAD A PENNY FOR EVERY 5 – 6 YEAR OLD CROSSING STREETS WITH EVEN YOUNGER SIBLINGS.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE MOTHERS THAT ALLOW THIS?????

This is the last on the subject

You talk from emotion-statistics do not bear you out-seat belts most definetly save lives

Because you allege that you recieved a fake ticket does not mean that the majority of them are fake.

Stop thinking about yourself and your “ fake ” ticket for a moment and encourage people to drive safely.

I had recieved numerous seat belt tickets until I drilled it into my head to wear one. But I deserved each and every one of them

  • Happened to us this week too!

B”H our child is safe. While crossing the street with his mother and siblings, a car backed into the crosswalk in an attempt to park. My wife pulled the other children out of the way but our 2 year old ended up under the car. The driver stopped and our child was unhurt.

This Friday I saw a car backing into a one way street (avoiding the 2 minutes round the block drive of course) This is something I’ve seen many times, but on this occasion, I saw it in another context. Why do people here do this? What are they thinking?

  • A Eye WItness

It is important for adults to wait for red lights so that kids take there example. Unfortunately, we are all in a rush and do not even have a second to wait for the light. Kids take that example look both ways and don’t know how close the cars are,how fast they are going, and forsure they do not have enough warning to grab hold of their younger sister before it is too late. So when ever you are not in a rush, WAIT for that light. Be a good example.

  • 99 CENT BABIES

LAUGHING OUT OF SADNESS, WHY AM I HYSTERICAL? EVERY TIME I DRIVE DOWN THE STREETS OF CROWN HEIGHTS AND SEE THE SIGHT OF A 6 YEAR OLD PUSHING A STROLLER WITH A ONE YEAR OLD IN IT AND A THREE YEAR OLD TAGGING ALONG I CRINGE AND HOLD MY BREATH UNTIL I SEE THEM SAFELY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. A SIX YEAR OLD DOES NOT HAVE THE QUICK SENSES TO KNOW WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY AND I’VE SEEN CARRIAGES GO ROLLING TOWARDS THE STREET BECAUSE THE SIX YEAR OLD IN CHARGE GOT SIDE TRACKED OVER A GAME ETC. IT IS DOWNRIGHT SCARY! ON THE OTHER HAND I’VE SEEN SO CALLED MOTHERS CROSS THE STREETS WITH THEIR TWO YEAR OLDS TRAILING BEHIND THEM WITH NO ATTEMPT ON THE MOTHERS PART TO HOLD THE CHILD’S HAND. THIS IS ABSOLUTE NEGLECT.

  • Scared

To THINK ABOUT THIS DURING THE 3 WEEKS,

I so agree! It is dangerous for everyone and how often I see a stroller to be pushed on the street while waiting. I am always scared that one day I have to witness something horrific. Please people, wait in safe, not in the street.
