Police Involved in an Accident while Responding to a Call

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Wet roads and an emergency contributed to a nasty crash between a taxi and a police car in Crown Heights. The incident took place in the intersection of Lefferts Avenue and Bedford Avenue at around 11:00am, where a police car ‘t-boned’ the taxi, causing multiple injuries to both officers and passengers in the taxi.

Police were apparently responding to an emergency with their lights and sirens on while they crossed the intersection with a red light and smashed in to the taxi as it crossed over Bedford. The driver of the taxi said that he saw the police car but couldn’t stop in time.

The two officers were rushed to Kings County Hospital, and three passengers from the taxi were treated on scene and were later transported to a local hospital as well.
