“I Literally Teared Up When Hearing This” The Care That Builds a Student
“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” At Bais Rivkah, the teachers live this. They notice. They really care.
This year’s theme is Celebrating Teachers Who Build, and the responses coming in from mothers and students capture exactly why.
One mother shared a moment that could have easily become an uncomfortable memory for her young daughter. She mistakenly sent her fi rst grader to school in Shabbos clothes on a Thursday instead of Friday, while every other child wore the regular uniform. The mother expected embarrassment. Instead, her daughter came home calm and happy.
Only later did she learn why. Morah Sara called her up and showed everyone that she is dressed so Tzniusdik, and she’s the PERFECT example of how everyone should be dressed tomorrow!”
“I literally teared up when I heard this. It made so much sense why my Chaya was so fine about the whole situation. I am so appreciative of Morah Sara. All the effort and love she puts into it does not go unnoticed!!” At times, one moment or gesture can change a child.
Another mother described how deeply their daughter connects to her teachers, not only in schwool, but at home. “Luba sings through life just the way Morah Chayale does! She sings (with Morah Chayale’s Brooklyn accent) about clearing up after supper, and bentching. She sings about waiting for the bus. She sings about the parshah. She loves when Morah Fruma comes to our house on Shabbos, we love that Luba is learning from the best Morahs ever who are also excellent role models!”
“Esther is IN LOVE with her Morahs. She looooves to dress like her Morahs and in general looks up to them in all ways… …I know, this sounds vain but it’s not. It’s an outward expression of a most special bond between her and her teachers. Thank you Morah Chayale and Morah Fruma!”
“People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” That is what it looks like when a teacher truly builds her students.
