Taxi Bursts Into Flames In Crown Heights, Damages Parked Car In The Inferno

Update: Unconfirmed reports indicate that a possible cause of the car fire was an exploding manhole which struck the unlucky taxi.

A taxi driving down Crown Street burst into flames Tuesday evening, damaging a parked car and sending flames and smoke billowing into the air.

The fire was reported around 7:00pm near the intersection of Crown Street and Troy Ave.

No injuries were reported but the FDNY were seen battling the flames coming from the fully engulfed car.

As of 8:00pm, Crown Street remained closed by the NYPD.
