In this video from Camp Gan Yisroel Montreal, campers play the crazy game of “Buck Buck” on Tisha B’av evening in 1993.

The game is played by one group of players jumping and climbing on the backs of a second group, in an effort to build as large a pile as possible or to cause the supporting players to collapse.

According to Wikipedia, as early as the 1600s children in Europe and the Near East played Buck Buck, which had been called “Bucca Bucca quot sunt hic?.”

  • Brings back memories

I remember playing this game in CGI Montreal well before 1993. I never realized how dangerous it was until watching this video. I better warn my kids not to play this game.

  • It-s an old tradition

I remember playing it in CGI MTL. in 1978 on the small baseball field outside the office.
