New Torah Scroll Arrives to a Rostov Synagogue

Rostov, Russia — For Rostov’s Jewish community, yesterday was a time to celebrate – the dedication and completion of a new Torah scroll. It was presented to the community by Yonatan Kosashvili, and the silver crown was presented by Vladimir Fayerman – both in memory of their fathers.

For Rostov, this is a rare and joyous occasion; the last scroll was carried into this historic synogogue before the Revolution. During the celebration, elderly community members said they felt as if they were reliving their youth and expressed deep joy for the occasion.
