Summer Sizzles in Longmeadow, MA
School may not be in session, but summertime is busy at Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy (LYA) in Longmeadow, MA. LYA organizes a Sizzlin’ Summer Barbecue for the community that grows bigger and better each summer. At the barbecue, people of all ages and from different segments of the community attend, and LYA staff take advantage of the opportunity to shmooze with them.
Succulent hamburgers and hot dogs off the grill, lots of fun for the kids, carnival games, and many friends greeted the attendees at the barbecue on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Almost 250 people attended the ninth annual community event.
The fun began with an inflatable obstacle course and moon bounce that were partially sponsored by Ascher Zimmerman Funeral Home and Lou Silver. Youngsters and adults alike enjoyed a summer carnival with many booths, such as bean bag toss, golfing and face painting. LYA Rabbis were on hand to assist people to put on tefilin.
Volunteers manned the food court, serving a buffet style barbecue with salads and grilled vegetables. Special thanks to Ron Manchester who grilled over 330 hamburgers and hot dogs.
LYA offers events throughout the year that attract members of all ages and segments of the Greater Springfield community.
