Photos: Russian Jewish Revival Continues with the Dedication of New Center

Jewish revival in the former Soviet Union continued last week with the dedication of yet another Jewish Center in the in city of Krasnodar. In a spectacular event, the building dedication began with the completion of a new Sefer Torah, followed by dancing in the city streets and a lavish meal in the new Center.

The construction of the new Jewish center began at the behest of local Shliach Rabbi Schneur Zalman Segal some three years ago, with the support of the President of the Union of Jewish Communities Mr. Lev Leviev. The new center contains a beautiful Synagogue sanctuary, a gala Hall, a library, a Kosher Cafe, a Mikvah as well as a children and youth educational center.

Rabbi Berel Lazar, Head Shliach and Chief Rabbi of Russia, was honored with mounting the Mezuzah on the front door of the new Center, and with the writing of the final letters in the new Torah – which was donated by Mr. Nathan Muhailov and his family.
