Scotland Mayor Receives Rosh Hashanah Gift Basket

Rabbi Chaim Jacobs, director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Scotland, which just a few days ago voted to remain a part of the United Kingdom, presented this morning a gift basket to Provost Alastair Carmichael, Mayor of Eastwood, in honor of Rosh Hashanah.

The basket included an apple, honey, pomegranate and a bottle of kosher wine. These items are traditional foods consumed on Rosh Hashanah to symbolize a sweet new year.

The Rabbi blessed the provost, as well as all citizens of East Renfrewshire and all of mankind with a year of good health, happiness and peace.

In other news, once again Lubavitch of Scotland mounted their annual 18-foot banners at Eastwood Toll roundabout, courtesy of East Renfrewshire Council, and at Morrison Supermarket in Giffnock.

“Now there is no excuse for any member of the community not knowing when Yom Tov is,” remarked Rabbi Jacobs.
