Argentinian Students Enjoy Inspiring Shabbaton

Over 270 students attended a Shabbaton and Pegisha hosted by the Chabad Center of Palermo-El Lazo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, directed by Rabbi Shlomo and Rebbetzin Rachel Levy.

This year marked the annual Shabbaton’s 25th consecutive event.

The theme of the Shabbaton was “The mission of life.” The Shluchim helped the students realize that life has a purpose, and that they have to be in touch with it constantly.

Another main goal in every year’s Pegisha is for the students to learn about the Jewish perspective on relationships and marriage.

Rabbi Eliezer Shemtov, a Chabad Shliach in neighboring Uruguay and author of the book Dear Rabbi, Why Can’t I Marry Her?, addressed the students about the severity of intermarriage.

Many of the boys had their first aliyah to the Torah and their first chance to put on Tefilin, and many of the girls were given a Hebrew name.

On Friday, before Shabbos, the girls made challah with Rivka Levy.

On Sunday evening, the students enjoyed a thought provoking discussion with Rabbi Levy, with each given the opportunity to ‘stump the rabbi.’ This was followed by a bonfire and Kumzitz on the beach.

A special thank you goes to Yossi levy, who dedicated many hours on the logistics and arrangements, as well as all the generous donors who made the event possible.
