Chabad Hosts Special Appreciation Event for IDF Soldiers

Dozens of combat soldiers of the IDF’s recent Operation Protective Edge in Gaza participated in a Gala Party hosted by Chabad of Ashkelon.

An elaborate barbecue was followed by dessert and lively dancing with the soldiers and the Chabad Rabbis all joining in the energetic dancing.

Rabbi Mendel Lieberman, Shliach in Ashkelon, addressed the soldiers and expressed his thanks on behalf all the residents of the city – who are finally experiencing some peace and quiet following more than a month of insistent rocket fire from terrorists in Gaza.

He shared with the soldiers how the Rebbe dedicated a Hakafa on Simchas Torah to Soldiers who served in the IDF.

Towards the end of the evening each soldier received a unique gift, a LeathermanMulti tool – a gift made possible by New Jersey Shliach Rabbi Chazanow and his community in Western Monmouth County, NJ and many other donors from Chabad communities of El Paso, Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Each Leathermanwas engraved by Royal Engraving of Crown Heights – “From Chabad with Love” and then repacked with a private letter of thanks and some sweets from the children of Marlboro Township, NJ, Phoenix, AZ, Boston, MA and Santa Fe, NM.

The excitement and appreciation that the sacrifice of the soldiers was recognized by fellow Jews throughout the World electrified the atmosphere of the evening.
