Mivtzoim at S. Monica’s ‘Night Out Against Crime’

Millions of Americans partake in the ‘National Night Out Against Crime,’ an event held to prevent crime and build community partnerships between residents and law enforcement. This year’s event fell out on Tisha B’Av, but that did not stop Chabad of Simcha Monica from turning out in full force.

Every year, volunteers with Chabad of ‘Simcha’ Monica put together a Kosher food booth, but due to the fast of Tisha B’Av, they were unable to. Instead, they focused on giving out Shabbos candles, Jewish literature and putting on Teffilin with scores of police officers, first responders, city officials and community members.

“National Night Out is an opportunity for the S. Monica Police Department to honor the exceptional relationship our police and community share together. This partnership allows the City of S. Monica to be a safe place to live, work and visit. The event is designed to generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts. It strengthens neighborhood and police-community partnerships and sends a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.”

The Chabad presence enhanced the goal of the national night out by creating a safer environment, through the participation of the attendees with Tefilin, Neshe”k and Kosher, the Mitzvah train keeps on going!
