Chabad of Mineola Holds Model Seder
Chabad of Mineola, Long Island, directed by Rabbi Anchelle Perl, conducted a model Pesach Seder for several Jewish members of the community, who wished to lead their own Seder at home but did not know how.
One of the guests, Jonathan May said “I came away with a deeper appreciation on the Afikoman. The larger part of the matzah may be absent from our seder table, but it is our Afikoman. So many Jews may be absent, but they are not forgotten. We cannot reach the conclusion without them; they must be sought out, brought back one by one with much love and sensitivity and rejoin the seder table of Jewish life.”
‘The Seder reflects the magnificent unity of Jewish life and thought,’ explained Rabbi Perl. ‘It’s a lot about understanding our past, the important role we each play in the present of Jewish life and the link we are into the immediate future, when we will open our doors for the final time to welcome arrival of Moshiach.’
Guests included prominent government leaders, doctors and United Nations delegates.
Each guest received a Bedikas Chometz Kit, to help perform the mitzvah of searching Chometz on the night before Pesach.
On a lighter note Rabbi Perl asked everyone to email in a ‘Selfie’ of oneself or the family searching for the Chometz. All the pictures will be entered into a free raffle after Yomtov for a large 4-foot Challah!
