Warmth of Shabbos Thaws Russian Winter

Chabad of Ulyanovsk, Russia recently concluded their fourth annual ‘Great Winter Shabbaton.’ Over 70 men, women and children enjoyed three days of learning, lectures, workshops, Farbrengens and ‘Ask the Rabbi’ sessions with local Shliach Rabbi Yossi Marozov.

The theme of the Shabbaton was ‘The Deeper Meaning of the Jewish Holidays.’ This included a comprehensive course on the Kabbalistic meaning of every Jewish holiday and some practical tips on how to keep them.

The attendees enjoyed a full-fledged Shabbos program. For many, this was their first Shabbos kept in their lives.

Leisure activities were enjoyed as well, included swimming, gym, snow sports and a tour of the city of Talyatti.

A special program was arranged for children, with games, stories and competitions. A program was arranged for the teenagers as well.

Like every year, this Shabbaton concluded with a large banquet. The banquet included competitions, dance and karaoke.
