Lag BaOmer Buzz in Baka
The streets of Baka were abuzz this Lag B’Omer, as Rabbi Avraham Hendel and his wife Dina led more than 100 children and their parents through the Jerusalem neighborhood. They were accompanied by professional drummers, and adorned with hats, balloons, banners and songs.
One secular Israeli woman came over to the joyful group of paraders and commented, “It’s so nice to see Jews making other Jews happy!”
Hinanit David recently made aliyah from Canada and she joined the parade with her young daughter. She was touched by the familiar feeling of warmth that she felt with Chabad and by how special it was to be celebrating Lag B’Omer in Yerushalayim.
The lively parade concluded with an exciting program for children.
Rabbi Hendel led a rally with pesukim and a story, circus performer Gilad wowed the crowd with his daring stunts, and an interactive drumming and juggling session followed the show.
Volunteers from the Mayanot women’s program energized the parade, and helped sell hot dogs and raffle tickets.
The joy and unity at the parade was uplifting and spread through the Baka neighborhood.
